Stuart Deets, Yusi Liu and Alex Polach were selected as scholars for the Hex U program. "HEX-U is a high-impact practice for undergraduates, sponsored by the Center for the Humanities, who wish to make meaningful connections between their humanities scholarship and the needs of the local community through new models of social engagement. HEX-U stands for “Undergraduate Humanities EXchange.”
Stuart will be doing a project with the Madison School District and Habitat for Humanity: Dane County. His initiative will take art created by art students at Madison West High and put it into homes built by Habitat for Humanity. The art itself will be themed around community and Wisconsin.
Yusi Liu and Alex Polach’s project, Art En Route, is calling for both visual and literary artists at all levels to submit portfolios. 8 visual and 8 literary artists will be selected to participate. Participants will be paired, and together create uniquely commissioned works of art/writing that will be photographed and printed on the exterior ad space of various Madison Metro Transit busses. The call for submissions is open until April 7th. For more information, please visit www.artenrouteproject.com
