| This course introduces
the visual arts of Asia in relevant social, historical, and cultural contexts
through a selection of artistic achievements from across the vast area (including
Afghanistan, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Nepal, Pakistan,
Thailand, Tibet, and Vietnam) at different points in time. Variously centered
on individual works, monuments, artists, or movements, the course is organized
to foster in-depth understanding of arts that are characteristic of Asia,
and to encourage students to develop skills and confidence in analyzing,
describing, and comparing visual forms. P: Open to Freshmen. |
