InSitu is the online catalog of the Visual Resources Collection, Department of Art History, University of Wisconsin-Madison, emphasizing the digital holdings of the collection. Full access to InSitu is limited to individuals who are employed by or enrolled at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (log-in may be required for remote access). Users in the University of Wisconsin System have access to material that is not specifically restricted to the Madison campus. Guest users have unrestricted access to text records and thumbnail images only. Help files are available on the search pages.
InSitu is closely integrated with the Department of Art History's course web pages. A help file link on the course image lists explains this integration. Course web pages are accessible during the semester in which the course is taught.
Images found on InSitu may be used for classroom presentations or for private study and research. Publication by any means (whether in print or on the web) or inclusion in a public performance of any kind requires permission of the copyright holder. Note that the works of most 20th-century artists are still under copyright, and reproduction rights would be held by the artist or artist's estate (contact the Artists Rights Society for further information).
Comments, inquiries, or problem reports may be directed to Jacob Esselstrom, Curator, Visual Resources Collection.
