The Department of Art History’s award-winning faculty produce cutting edge research and teach innovative classes which prepare our students to thrive in contemporary society. The department encourages the study of the global history of art, and material and visual culture, from a wide range of periods and a variety of world cultures. Housed in the Chazen Museum of Art, the Department works closely with the Museum to provide students with opportunities to gain training in all facets of museum work, including exhibition training.
Academics
We offer flexible B.A and B.S. undergraduate majors, free-standing M.A. programs, and Ph.D. programs as well as opportunities to practice curatorial work and engage in public humanities research.
