Across Oceans and Hemispheres: The Career of Henry J. Drewal

A celebratory event to honor recently retired Professor Henry Drewal, Evjue-Bascom Professor of Art History and Afro-American Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, held at the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art on February 27–28th, 2020. The event will consist of a public conversation between Professor Drewal and NMAfA Director, Dr.Gus Casely-Hayford on February 27th starting at 4:00 pm. On Friday, February 28th, a day-long symposium, “Bound Together: Papers in Honor of Henry Drewal,” will feature his former and current graduate students, as Bolaji Campbell, Shannen Hill, Janine Sytsma, Matthew Rarey, and Fernanda Villarroel, among many others.
