Spring 2023 Visiting Artist Colloquium: Anastasiia Raina
Anastasiia Raina is a Ukrainian-born designer, researcher, and Assistant Professor at RISD. She received an MFA in Graphic Design from Yale School of Art. In her research-based practice, Raina explores the aesthetics of technologically mediated nature and the environment through machine vision, evolutionary biology, and incorporating biotechnology into the artistic vernacular. She draws upon scientific inquiry and works with scientists to generate new methodologies in design. In addition to teaching, she consults and collaborates with various global firms, including the Hyundai Motor Group, and has delivered lectures on biocentric design and pedagogy globally.

The Art Department Colloquium is a series supported by the Anonymous Fund and the Brittingham Trust. Visiting Artist lectures are held every Wednesday during the academic year, and are free and open to the public.
