British Museum | Re-interpreting the Becket Miracle Windows
May 20, 2021 @ 11:30 am - 12:30 pm

Celebrate the opening of our #ThomasBecket exhibition on 20 May with a free online event looking at the centrepiece to the show – the Becket Miracle Windows, on loan from Canterbury Cathedral.
The windows are displayed at eye level for the first time in their 800-year history, and show scenes of miracles attributed to Becket after his death.
In this online discussion, Rachel M. Koopmans, an Associate Professor of History at York University in Toronto, and Leonie Seliger, Director of the Cathedral Studio in Canterbury, will provide insight into new research on these objects. We’ll learn more about how recent conservation work on the stained glass windows, and their reassembly, has thrown new light on the interpretation of these stories.
