Gallery Talk: Prof. Jennifer Angus

February 6, 2020 @ 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm

Professor Jennifer Angus (Design Studies, School of Human Ecology), presents an interactive gallery talk about her work The Museum of Everything—an immersive installation inspired by Martha Glowacki’s sculpture My Arcadia.

The Museum of Everything / 2020
Inspired by the Chazen collection piece My Arcadia by Martha Glowacki, Angus transforms all of Gallery XVI (16) into an immersive space recalling the tradition of wunderkammer, or cabinets of curiosity. Artworks from the Chazen collection and Angus’s three massive cabinets of curiosity will be surrounded and connected by insects placed upon the walls in intricate patterns, mimicking designs of textiles and wallpaper.

Jennifer Angus has been on faculty since 2001 and has exhibited internationally in locations including Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan and Spain. She has received numerous awards, including Canada Council for the Arts, Ontario Arts Council and Wisconsin Arts Board grants. At UW–Madison, she has received annual grants from the graduate school; the Vilas Associate Award; the Emily Mead Baldwin- Bascom Professorship in the Creative Arts; the H.I. Romnes Faculty Fellowship; the UW Arts Institute Creative Arts Award; the Rothermel Bascom Professorship; and most recently a Kellett Mid-Career Award.
