MOWA Exhibition | Artists Without Borders

April 25, 2021 - July 3, 2021

On view until July 3rd, 2021
Artists without Borders showcases the works of nine artists-all with roots abroad and currently residing in Wisconsin-to explore their distinct takes on the relationship between art and place.
Seven of the nine artists represented are first-generation immigrants born outside the US who draw artistic influence from their country of origin. The other two were born in the heartland of America, and in their work attempt to understand the world from which their parents came. The works range from sculptural interpretations of landscape, larger-than-life paper puppets, animated film, and surrealistic self-portraiture.
Artists without Borders features Art History Affiliate Professor Faisal Abdu’allah (United Kingdom), Nina Ghanbarzadeh, (Iran), David Najib Kasir (Syria), Francisco X. Mora (Mexico), Nirmal Raja (India), Gabrielle Tesfaye (Ethiopia/Jamaica), Jason Yi (South Korea), Rina Yoon (South Korea), and Xiaohong Zhang (China).
COST: Free for members or join for as low as $15 (wisconsinart.org/join)
