Legends of Drag: Queens of a Certain Age | A Conversation with Harry James Hanson and Devin Antheus

About this event

Join PORTAL, the National Portrait Gallery’s Scholarly Center, for a conversation with artist Harry James Hanson and writer Devin Antheus, the authors of Legends of Drag: Queens of a Certain Age. This event will chart the history of drag from the margins of society to the mainstream, celebrate the lives behind the images, and explore the techniques and unique floral designs behind the portraits. Led by moderator Mindy Farmer, a historian at the National Portrait Gallery, this conversation is part of the Tommie L. Pegues and Donald A. Capoccia Conversation Series in LGBTQ+ Portraiture.

The Zoom link will be emailed to registered participants 12–24 hours in advance of the program. The email will come from Eventbrite. Please only register for yourself.

The Portrait Gallery strives to provide programs that are accessible to all visitors. If you have questions about the accessibility of this program, or if you would like to request real-time captioning (CART), sign language interpretation, or any other accommodations, please contact Vanessa Jones at jonesve@si.edu. Two weeks’ advance notice is appreciated for requesting accommodations.

You must be 18 or older to register for this event.
