Newberry Library: “ReCollecting: History of Printing”
April 5, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Where do new Newberry collections come from? Hint: it’s not a library stork (though that would be pretty cool).
New acquisitions continue to take up residence in the Newberry stacks. They get here as a result of curators triangulating the past, present, and future: building on preexisting collections, responding to our current moment, and predicting the interests of future generations.
“ReCollecting” is a live video series where Newberry curators share how they go about expanding the library’s collection of 1.6 million books, 600,000 maps, and 5 million manuscript pages.
In this episode, curator Jill Gage discusses Newberry collections related to the history of printing.
