Newberry Library | Territory, Land, Identity
June 4, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 12:30 pm

**Tune in for this live discussion on the Newberry’s Facebook page.**
Artist Fernando Martí joins us for the latest episode of “NewbTube” to discuss how he addresses concepts like territory, land, borders, and identity in his work.
A print recently designed by Martí is currently on display in the Newberry exhibition ¡Viva la Libertad! Latin America and the Age of Revolutions.
Martí will be interviewed by Will Hansen, curator of ¡Viva la Libertad!
“NewbTube” is a series of brisk but brainy conversations with Newberry staff and others.
Fernando Martí is a printmaker, writer, community architect, and housing activist based in San Francisco. His prints, public constructions and altar ofrendas walk the line between inhabiting place and ancestral tradition, and a transformative utopian urge connected to contemporary struggles. He is a member of the Justseeds artists’ cooperative. Originally from Ecuador, he has been deeply involved in San Francisco’s art and activism since the mid-90s. Today he works on housing and urban sustainability with the Council of Community Housing Organizations.
