Smithsonian | Historically Speaking: The Launch Of The Smithsonian Anthology Of Hip Hop And Rap

The National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC) and Smithsonian Folkways are pleased to launch The Smithsonian Anthology of Hip-Hop and Rap. The first-of-its-kind multimedia collection chronicles the growth of the music and culture from the parks of the Bronx to solidifying a reach that spans the globe.
On August 17th, the anthology’s producer/editor Dwandalyn Reece, NMAAHC Associate Director of Curatorial Affairs will moderate an esteemed panel of scholars and contributors to the anthology including Bill Adler, journalist and critic; Adam Bradley, professor of English and the founding director of the Laboratory for Race & Popular Culture (RAP Lab) at UCLA; and Regina Benjamin, assistant professor of English and African diaspora studies at Kennesaw State University.
