Stanley Museum of Art | Jackson Pollock’s “Mural” Revealed

May 18 @ 2:30 pm - 3:30 pm

Jackson Pollock’s Mural Revealed

Joyce Raimondo, education coordinator for the Pollock-Krasner House and Study Center, will present Jackson Pollock and Lee Krasner’s mural projects, followed by a live virtual tour of their studio. Then Kimberly Musial Datchuk, curator of learning & engagement at the University of Iowa Stanley Museum of Art, will present the story behind Pollock’s 1943 Mural, which is in the Stanley’s permanent collection. The mythology around Mural has become almost as famous as the painting itself. How true are the tales, and how did Mural end up in Iowa?
Learn more about the history of this fascinating painting as it prepares to return to Iowa after an international tour and take its place of honor in the new University of Iowa Stanley Museum of Art building, which opens on August 26.
