Teaching Middle Welsh in the 21st Century: A One-Day Virtual Conference
May 8, 2021 @ 8:00 am - 4:00 pm

The Medieval Studies Program of Yale University and the Department of Welsh and Celtic Studies of Aberystwyth University are pleased to invite you to a virtual one-day conference on the pedagogy of Middle Welsh to be held on May 8, 2021.
The conference will consist of at least one session of three fifteen-minute papers and a roundtable discussion featuring presentations on a number of significant recent and ongoing pedagogical projects, including the first two published course books for Middle Welsh. There will also be a short presentation on pedagogical resources available through the National Library of Wales. We are particularly interested in papers discussing unique problems in Middle Welsh or Celtic-language pedagogy, papers discussing novel or innovative approaches to teaching Middle Welsh, papers which discuss the pedagogical utility or importance of specific texts or groups of texts in the Middle Welsh canon, and papers which draw connections between Middle Welsh and established methods of language teaching in other fields.
This conference will also establish a new semi-formal working group on Middle Welsh pedagogy, which will serve as a vehicle for future discussions on the subject. The conference will be scheduled at times suitable for both North American and European scholars.
