UW–Madison Art Dept. | Fall 2021 Art Faculty Colloquium: Prof. John Baldacchino

Dr. John Baldacchino is Professor of Arts Education. A specialist in art, philosophy and education, he has authored many essays, papers, reviews and journalistic articles. His studio research focuses on painting and drawing.
He has authored fourteen books, which include Easels of Utopia (1998/2018), Education Beyond Education (2009); Makings of the Sea (2010), Art’s Way Out (2012), John Dewey (2014), Art as Unlearning (2018) and Educing Ivan Illich (2020). He is currently working on two new volumes.
Currently a Professor of Art Education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Baldacchino previously served as Director of UW-Madison’s Division of the Arts from 2016 to 2019. He was a member of faculty at Columbia University, New York, and the Universities of Dundee, Falmouth, Robert Gordon, and Warwick in Britain.

The Art Department Colloquium is a series supported by the Anonymous Fund and the Brittingham Trust. Visiting Artist lectures are held every Wednesday and Faculty lectures are held every Thursday during the academic year, and are free and open to the public.
