Wisconsin Historical Society | Wisconsin Book Club: “Creating Dairyland”

March 17 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Join the Wisconsin Historical Society and fellow book lovers in an engaging discussion on Creating Dairyland, by Edward Janus.
Creating Dairyland tells the fascinating story of Wisconsin dairy farming. Janus explores the profound idea that led to the remarkable “big bang” of dairying here a century and a half ago. He helps us understand why there are cows in Wisconsin, how farmers became responsible stewards of our resources, and how cows have paid them back for their efforts. We are introduced to dairy farmers and cheesemakers of today: men and women who want to tell us why they love what they do.
This event is hosted by Liz Arbuckle, the Northern Wisconsin Education Outreach Specialist for the Wisconsin Historical Society. Prior to our meeting, Liz will send the virtual meeting link and some reflection questions to encourage a lively conversation. Participants will need access to a copy of the book, an internet connection, and a computer or smartphone to fully participate in our discussion.
Cost: Free
Advance registration is required.
Registered book club participants can receive a 20% discount on the book if they order through the Society prior to the closing date. That coupon code will be e-mailed to participants once they have registered.
To register or if you have any questions, please send an e-mail with your name to liz.arbuckle@wisconsinhistory.org.
