Workshop: “Manuscript Illuminations: Fragments and Provenance”

Maria Saffioti Dale, Curator of Paintings, Sculpture, and Decorative Arts at the Chazen Museum of Art, will provide a brief presentation on issues of fragmentology and provenance in the cases of two illuminated initials from the Chazen Museum of Art’s Collection, one of which includes the Initial “O” from the “Sistine Chapel Antiphonary with St. Clement I Pope and Martyr.” The presentation will be followed by a discussion of these issues in regard to museum studies.
