My dissertation focuses on the practice of repurposing debris from global capitalism into works of contemporary art in Lagos, Nigeria. Drawing from my training in anthropology, art history, and African languages (Yoruba and Hausa) I shed light on the structures of production and circulation of works by artists living and working in Lagos. As a scholar engaging with both the academic and curatorial fields, I have approached this economy as effective and transnational. In the last year, a co-chaired a panel with Dr.
