Marcela Guerrero (Art History PhD, 2015), Assistant Curator of Latinx art at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, is one of the curators who brought the recent exhibition “Vida Americana: Mexican Muralists Remake American Art, 1925-1945” to fruition. This exhibition has received a favorable review by renowned New York Times art critic Holland Cotter (you can read his review here). A more thorough write-up about Marcela and her position as the Whitney’s first curator of Latinx art can be found in a 2018 New York Times article titled, “Museums Turn Their Focus to U.S. Artists of Latin Descent.” Congratulations Marcela!
