Record of a Tenement Gentleman (Nagaya Shinshiroku)
Ozu’s first movie made after World War II is set in a Tokyo neighborhood where a stoic middle-aged widow begrudgingly shelters an abandoned child, their initially chilly relationship thawing over time.
