Spring 2020 Graduates Spotlight: Cynthia Li (Art History, BA)

Cynthia Li graduated this spring with dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Art History and Mathematics. Cynthia has kindly shared her answers to a few questions about her time her at UW-Madison.

What is your favorite art history memory?
“My favorite art history memory was that I participated in curating the exhibition “Un/Seen: The Alchemy of Fixing Shadows” in the Chazen Museum of Art. As a frequent visitor of museums and exhibitions, it was a great pleasure to be able to put together a show with our own narratives, and to show other people what my team and I see in the artworks.”

What is the most important skill you have learned in the art history program?
“I have learned how to appreciate artworks and feel the emotions expressed in the works. The ability to sympathize with artists is what I treasure the most from my study.”

What do you intend to do after graduation?
“I will be studying more math, and continue my learning career in the Master’s program at the Institute of Computation and Mathematical Engineering at Stanford University.”
