Visiting Professor Alarcon, 2018-19

A big welcome to Prof. Carolina Alarcon, who has joined the department during the 2018-19 year to teach Renaissance art. A recent Ph.D. (Florida State University), Carolina’s research investigates the state of the art of anatomy in sixteenth-century Spain, and connects illustrated anatomical literature to the broader history of natural science and medical knowledge during the Renaissance. In the fall she will teach a survey of Northern Renaissance Art and a seminar on images of the body during the early modern period.
