We are so excited to be welcoming Prof. Ray Hernández-Durán back to Madison! Prof. Hernández-Durán completed his Master of Arts in Art History at UW–Madison in 1994, where he worked with Prof. Emeritus Henry Drewal on the Arts of Africa and the African Diaspora. After leaving Madison he attended the University of Chicago for his PhD and currently holds the position of Full Professor of Spanish Colonial Art at the University of New Mexico.
His lecture, co-sponsored by the Center for Visual Culture Studies, “Catholics, Conservatives, and the Academy of San Carlos: Writing a History of Art in Nineteenth-Century Mexico City,” will take place October 22nd at 6:00pm CST via Zoom.
