Art Historian Prof. Asa Mittman will be presenting his lecture “Far From Jerusalem: The Exclusion of Jews on Christian Maps.” Medieval Christian maps use principles of inclusion and exclusion to generate fictions of collective identity. This talk will examine cartographical images of Jews, thus far understudied but key to the creation of a central myth of the Middle Ages: Christendom.
The lecture will take place on Thursday, October 15th, 2020 at 5:00pm via Zoom (https://uwmadison.zoom.us/j/95859852612…
Meeting ID: 958 5985 2612; Passcode: 655648).
