Please join the Department of Art History for fun and philanthropy during the 2026 Day of the Badger campaign hosted Tuesday, April 14th, 2026 10:12 am – Wednesday, April 15th, 2026, 5:00 pm CT!
What is Day of the Badger? Day of the Badger is campus-wide event covering 1848 minutes in which alumni, faculty, students, and friends throughout Badger nation have the opportunity to make a far-reaching impact in a short amount of time. This is a party to pay it forward by celebrating and supporting the UW.
Why Support Art History? For the past 100 years, the Department of Art History has worked to build visual literacy, historical and cultural awareness, and critical thinking skills in our students. At the same time, we instill in them a lifelong sense of wonder, awe, and curiosity about the world around them. These critical skills prepare our students to go on to navigate and question an ever-changing world. Our graduate students have had astonishing rates of professional success, as our faculty operate at the cutting edge of the discipline, publishing field-changing books and articles and training our graduate students to operate at the same level.
Our department has set lofty goals for itself and its students as we enter our next century. Your support will help us continue our quest to interpret the past and shape the future as we set our sights on becoming a top-ranking art history department.
How Can you Get Involved? We invite our community of faculty, staff, students, alumni, and friends to join us in support of Art History. During this event, there are several ways to participate.
- Make an Impact. Gifts given in support of Art History during the Day of the Badger will create impact as we strive to become a top-ranked art history department, promote undergraduate and graduate student excellence, and support research and professional development of our students, faculty, and staff. Because of the generous support of Joan Mirviss and Dan & Natalie Erdman, we are able to offer matching gifts for donations given during Day of the Badger. The first 60 donations will unlock $5,000 and the next 80 donations will unlock an additional $5,000. In sum, 80 donations will unlock $10,000 in matching gift funds.
- Join Us in Learning. Art History faculty welcome you to sit in on one of the following courses:
- Join Professor Anna Andrzejewski as she teaches Art History 239 | Making the American Landscape on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 from 9:30 – 10:45 AM in Elvehjem L160.
