New Research on Guido Reni
After numerous initiatives devoted to the paintings of the great Bolognese master, the Guido Reni exhibition at the Museo Nacional del Prado, in conjunction with this International Congress, is an excellent opportunity to explore the scientific, historic and artistic contexts in which his life took place.
Starting with the inaugural lecture by Elizabeth Cropper, a specialist in Bolognese painting and 17th-century art literature, the congress will address Guido Reni´s training in Bologna and Rome, his figure in art theory and literature, new reflections on the catalogue of his works and his creative process, his posthumous fortune in modern collecting and contemporary historiography.
