Spring 2021 Course Highlight: DS 501 “The Material Culture of Childhood”

Need more material culture in your life? Check out Prof. Sarah Carter’s new course DS 501: “The Material Culture of Childhood.”

The course will explore the histories of children and childhood and use material culture methodologies to ask: How have changing understandings of child development, social and cultural history, and the history of the family shaped and been shaped by children’s material worlds?
Coursework will lead to the research, design, and planning of a series of online exhibitions on the material culture of children and childhood.
