Sophie, who was active in the Art History Society and the Wisconsin Union Directorate Art Committee, won an award for Advocacy and Transparency through the Wisconsin Union Directorate for her work as Head of Education at the Union Galleries during 2020. She reflects, “I am very thankful for all of the curatorial opportunities offered by the department during my time here. I helped curate exhibits from the history of the Elvehjem to looking at the ways slavery permeates throughout museum collections. The care and attention taken by my professors in this department are why I feel confident that I am leaving UW–Madison with valuable skills. I am thankful to have been a part of Art History Society and formed a group of friends I will keep in touch with long past graduation.” Sophie will intern at the Harp Gallery in Neenah, WI over the summer as a Marketing and Research Assistant. She says, “I’ll miss coming to the Elvehjem every day for class and reading in the Art Library chairs!”
