Marie-Agathe Simonetti (Ph.D. Candidate) has just published her first article: “Color Galore in the French Colonial Empire: Léon Busy as Amateur Autochromist in the Service of the French Government of Indochina,” in the journal Rundbrief Fotografie. Her article reexamines Léon Busy’s autochrome production in light of his propaganda work for the French government of Indochina. The new color photography technology became central to France’s depiction of its colonies, with Busy being the provider of images from Indochina. The article’s abstract is available here.
