
PhD student Travis Olson will be delivering his research on Eastern European settlement in North Dakota at the virtual Vernacular Architecture Forum’s 2020 conference in a 1:00pm session entitled The Architecture of Agriculture. His paper is titled “Bracing Against the Prairie Winds: The Estonian Farmsteads of Stark County, North Dakota” and focuses on the interrelation of architectural and environmental history in the formation of early twentieth century farmsteads in Western North Dakota.
