The Museum for Art in Wood in Philadelphia, PA is hosting The Mashrabiya Project during March 3rd–July 23rd, 2023. The multidisciplinary project, which explores this complex element in Islamic architecture and craft, comprises an exhibition presenting new works by artists responding to the metaphors and histories of the Mashrabiya, as well as interactive programming, guided woodturning, and a bilingual publication. Jennifer-Navva Milliken is the The Mashrabiya Project Curator, and UW–Madison Art History Ph.D. Candidate Ahmed Abdelazim is the exhibition’s Project Coordinator. The project has been supported by The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage.
